Getting to Move

Since being back from Hawaii (two weeks?) I've managed to do at least 20 minutes of walking each day thanks to Exercise TV and Leslie Sansone. What I really appreciate about the Sansone videos (especially the ones in a group) are that there is a definite non-traditional body represented and she keeps the weight loss talk very minimal. I think this is also a bit funny, considering she has a whole video series called Walk Away the Pounds. Which I'm sure has the typical weight loss work out rhetoric attached to it (though perhaps not). In any case, I've managed to log about 20 miles of walking my living room which makes me very happy.

Also, thanks to the miserably hot weather we are having in NYC, the backyard pool is super warm, which has let me do lap swimming at home rather than trekking over to the Y.

I've also started to do Anna Guest-Jelley's "30 Days of Curvy Yoga". I'm not as excited about this as I'd hoped to be. While the modifications are often helpful, there are a lot of them I don't need and I'm unsure of how to unmodify the post- like there are things that look like forward bends etc, but are they really? And then why aren't they connected to sun salutations? I have missed two weeks of Yoga classes (1 because I was in Hawaii, and 1 because I was jet lagged) and I'm going tomorrow come hell or high water.

So, I'm feeling about ready to start in on "regular" workouts. I'm going to hit the Y this morning for about 30 minutes and see how that feels.

In any case, I'm super glad that I'm moving more.
